There was a period of time when I fell in love with hairband. And I started expanding my collection impulsively. Like for christmas, I requested hairbands for gift exchange. Ad whenever I walk past accessory shop, I will look for one.
Like any wave, it comes and it goes. And I started thinking these hairbands take up too much of my space on the table. I had to find a place for all of them. They are kinda fixed shape. I can't bend them and make them smaller so as to keep them. Tsk
I finally found another use for them. Use them when I am doing facial cos my fringe gets in the way. Haha!

say cheese!
With the iphone and many photo apps, photo taking has become so easy and convenient. gone are the days of film cameras where we can only view the pictures after we have sent the film to develop. Now, we can see the photos instantly and if its not nice enough, delete and take again! despite the days of film cameras being long gone, polaroid cameras have become the in-thing these days.
Polaroid taking is fun! and you get to have a physical photo for keepsake. however, a disadvantage is that you can only have one of it. so if the polaroid has many people in it, only one lucky person can get to keep it. but of course, you can take a couple of pictures. well, at least that one polaroid you have is one of a kind!
there are so many choices for polaroid films. there's the plain ones, the colourful ones or those with cartoon characters like hello kitty and winnie the pooh. i would love to buy a cartoon character one! =p but these films dont come cheap mans!!
maybe i'll just stick to my iphone apps.. hmmm.

Avocado juice
who can resist a glass of creamy avocado juice?? I love it! esp when it's served with either chocolate or gula melaka sauce! but sadly it's one of the more expensive fruit juice so I can't drink it that often!
actually I like anything that has avocado! I love eating dragon roll from sushi teh and I also always order the salmon avocado roll at other sushi restaurants. my mum's friend used to make avocado salad in which I can use it as a spread for my bread! super yummy!
avocados may be one of the more fattening fruits but they have their health benefits too. avocados are rich in antioxidants and good for protection against breast cancer and preventing stroke. so eat your avocado today!

Keyholder (120/365)
My 7 years old keyholder. It was a gift from someone 7 years ago. it was a first gift from that person. i remember treasuring it since then and then after a while, it became a habit. it was originally red with a female toilet sign on it. i have a mechanical pencil from the same person for 7 years as well. i don't know why i never changed it. i just never did.
this is similar to alot of things we hold.the first time we have something, we will treasure it because we love it so much. after a long while, it became a habit. we are comfortable looking at the thing, we are used to having it in our life. but that doesn't mean we won't fall in love with the next thing we see. there are pretty objects around all the time. we like some, we get tired of some.
i hope i don't cling on to past gifts and people because of habit.

Panadol (119/365)
I don't like to take panadol. I find that it only takes away the pain or discomfort temporarily but does not solve the root.
But ever since the start of this year, I am stocking up all kinds of panadol in my fridge. Extra relief like this, flu, flu extra and also the regular panadol. I find that I fall sick very easily since the start of this year and I need panadol to relieve my pain instantly so that I got strength for the next day. I think this is not a very healthy thing to do because I am just accumulating the root of my body weakness.
But ya, now I have alot of panadol in my fridge

Green Cleopatra
saw this cute M&M choc at a DFS shop and I had to take it for my green pic of the day!
I like M&Ms because they are so colourful! feels happy eating them. also they have many kind of accessories. I remember having a big M&M rolling machine when I was younger. it works like a bingo machine where a choc will roll out every time u turn the roller.
there are many different types of M&Ms choc. which type do u like? I like the almond and the crunchy biscuit one!

Dentist with a cross (118/365)
Came across this dental place today call hosanna dental. It is nice to see Christians opening shops or doing business and not forgetting to credit or recognise God in their life. Or dedicate their business to Christ.
I know there is a thai shop in raffles place that sells just 2 or 3 items. tom yum soup and green curry. And they have bible verses sticking on the wall and they play Christian songs all day long. I like to dine there alone when i just need to get away from the hustle and bustle of life.

Chocolate Strawberry tart (117/365)
I was looking for dessert in raffles city. And I saw fruits paradise, this Japanese cuisine and dessert place. They sell alot of fruit tarts and you will not miss this shop because it is very bright, with all the colourful fruits as display.
One thing I like about this tart is that it is very light. The cream is light and not very sweet. The important thing is you don't feel guilty after eating it.

Bossini
this is such an old school fashion brand. ok do we even consider this fashion? I'm surprised it's still around. Bossini, Giordano, Baleno, Hang Ten and U2 used to be the rage during my secondary school days. Oh there's ocean pacific (OP) too!
I'm surprised Bossini is still surviving and their bugis outlet looks pretty chic. I wonder if teenagers these days still buy from these brands?

Dang dang dangdang (116/365)
This is someone's in office wedding favor. It looks quite cute and at the same time oriental. It contains chocolate. Sadly, I wasn't invited to the wedding. It was someone else's wedding favor and shared the chocolates with me.
Today, one of my colleague who is turning 29 said, go so many weddings, one more sian than the other. And to hear people criticizing the food and all also sian. I cannot understand how she feel at this point of time because I have not been to any friend's wedding yet! Expecting one this year in may. No more. Will I become like my colleague in the future?

correction tape
still remember the primary and secondary school days, correction tapes are considered the more 'atas' version than liquid paper. I would say most people will have both liquid paper and correction tape in their pencil case. since liquid paper was the cheaper alternative, I'll normally use that and will use correction tape when I need to write over quickly and cannot wait for the wet liquid to dry.
and even correction tape itself, it ranges from the super expensive branded ones to the cheapo popular housebrands which are normally lousier in quality. you pay for what you get!

Psst.. A little secret (114/365)
I have been a lazy girl, this box of tissue was used up one month ago and instead of throwing it away, I just continue to pile rubbish up in it. If my mum who is a huge clean freak was to see this, I would hear no end for that night. Haha, but it has been serving me well, I don't need to walk out of my room to throw rubbish anymore. Whee!!

Wicked the musical
Wicked the musical had been showing in Marina Bay Sands (Singapore) for the past few months and has finally closed its curtains last Sunday. I think most Singaporeans had gotten a chance to watch the musical. at least for my friends around me, most of them seem to have caught it.
well, i went to watch it too in December. I like musicals! but its quite a costly interest! production ticket prices are always so expensive! =( i'm glad i was able to watch Wicked.
Wicked tells the untold story of Wizard of the Oz. Actually when I bought tickets to the musical, i wasn't aware whats the story about. i didn't even know it was related to Wizard of the Oz! personally i've never read the wizard of the oz story, so i had to go do some research just before watching the musical. Well, Wicked is a pretty nice story about friendship, how 2 unlikely and very different girls became the best of friends. and of course i love the songs in the musical, especially defying gravity! =)

Ya Hua Rou Gu Cha
feeling hungry in the wee hours of the morning? here's another choice to add to the list of late night supper eateries - ya hua bak ku teh at tanjong pagar complex. apparently they open till about 4am!
coincidentally theres a write up on bak ku teh on pg22 of lifestyle today! so there's actually many different versions of bkt - the Singapore teochew style which is the peppery clear soup version, the klang hokkien style which is the dark herbal version, kuala lumpur style which is similar herbal as the klang one and lastly the Singapore Cantonese style. im a big fan of bkt, and normally get my fix from across the causeway because it's so much cheaper there!! but yah i prefer the clear peppery version to the herbal one. im still an overall bkt fan! :)
what version of bkt do you like?

Elmo! (113/365)
Elmo from sesame street!
to think i took so long to introduce him into my project 365. classic representation of red. he is a little red dynamo with a positive attitude! little kids love him and he has this cute voice.
i'm not a sesame street fan since young. don't remember watching it. i mainly watched non-educational cartoons like power ranger, little lulu etc. here's a cute elmo for my red picture of the day.

What is this? (112/365)
Any ideas what is this?
I was in charge of audio today and this was right in front of me. The volume control and sound controls. It felt a little like DJ. Which reminds me of how one of my ambitions when I was younger was to be a DJ. I kind of gave up that idea because I knew I don't have quick response and answers like what I heard most DJs do. Haha

Esso tigermart (111/365)
In the past, stop points at petrol kiosk is something I enjoy very much. i have different fond memories of stopping by petrol kiosk for a drink or a bar of chocolate. there was this once, my cousins and i were on the bus and i suddenly felt super thirsty. then i saw a petrol kiosk and so i whined and insisted we all get off the bus so that i could get a drink. they never fail to remind me about that.
then there was another time where i was walking from orchard back to toa payoh during wee hours. having a petrol kiosk in the middle of the journey recharges me and i have been enjoying long walks ever since.
and also, i simply love to stop just to browse magazines and check out what snacks i can get along the way.

local delight
I love food, judging from the many food posts I have. my favourite local food is chicken rice and the next in line is wanton mee!
I used to love fei fei wanton mee and it was the only wanton mee I cannot stop raving about. I could eat it almost every week! however they have since increased their price unreasonably, when it used to be $2 a bowl, it's currently $3.20! not only has the portion reduced, the quality isn't as good too. probably cos it has become so commercialized it's no longer cooked by the original owners themselves.
so now I find comfort in an alternative wanton mee nearby. dunman road hawker centre wanton mee! it's cheap and I love the chilli!!! it's now my new fave wanton mee place!

Batik (110/365)
I got this piece of batik when I was overseas. I love batik design. I used to think I only like red gadgets and that wearing red will be too loud for me, not anymore. Red is slow infiltrating my wardrobe and I am loving it more each day.

Crown van (109/365)
this is a really random picture. as i was panicking without an inspiration what can i take today as my red picture of the day, this van was parking innocently at the side road. so i decided to take a quicl snap. then come back and google what company is this.
i just google crown and alot of companies pop up. there are moving companies, equipment company, resort, manufacturer of power amplifiers, microphones, and processing for the professional audio industry, even dentistry!! how common this word crown is for companies to incorporate in their name. This van however, is records management.
this reminds me, have we ever try google-ing our name?

I love chocolaty stuff like choc cake, ice cream etc. but I'm not a big fan of pure chocolates. I like to eat chocolates that are mixed with other stuff, like waffles, nuts etc. kit kats and ferroro rocher are one of my favorite chocs. I also love Reese! peanut butter and chocolate is the perfect combination!! =))

ABC drink (108/365)
Have you tried it yet? ABC juice is made of apple, beer root and celery. I was quite fascinated with it initially but it has such a pretty colour. This drink is supposed to help you in digestion, aids in constipation. All in all, easy to go toilet, or so I was told. Go to the nearest fruit stall and try this ABC juice!

五香 is not unfamiliar to many Singaporeans. And this particular meat dish is more familiar. I never used to like 五香 until i tried good ones with chilli and 五香 special sauce- the light pink colour one. Anyway, i like to eat centruy egg, fish cake, prawn cracker and the squid thing. This red meat is not the top of my favourite though.

Bingo!
this is so country club-ish but still quite fun. there was a mini bingo session organized by one of my colleagues in the office today. and no, it isn't an official company event, neither is it for charity. this is purely a bingo session, where we pay $2 for each card and the winner will collect all the cash winnings from that round!
yah, one of the meeting rooms turned into a mini gambling den during lunch today. but all in the name of fun! =p so sad I didn't win! was so close (all 3 rounds I was already waiting for that last number for so long!) anyway I think it's a good way to bond and get to know colleagues from other departments :) hopefully there'll be more bingo sessions!

Red velvet cake (106/365)
This should have been a cake i would love. Red Velvet Cake. I love the colour of the cake, i love the name of the cake. i just don't like what it is made of!
Definition of red velvet cake: A red velvet cake is a popular cake with a dark red, bright red or red-brown color. It is usually prepared as a layer cake topped with a creamy vanilla icing, cookie dough, or most popularly, cream cheese icing. The reddish-brown color of the cake was originally from a reaction of the cocoa powder with an acidic ingredient such as buttermilk; however, red food coloring is often added.
yes, i don't like cheese and my cousin who bakes says that alot alot alot of red coloring is added!!! so unhealthy! sounds super unhealthy. i will stick to my beloved blackforest cake!

katong, my favourite area
katong has a special place in my heart. it's an area that watched me grow up. from a little kid when grandpa used to bring me to eat mac hashbrowns, to spending my pri and sec days attending Chinese tuitions at katong mall, hanging out with friends at the various eateries along katong in my jc days and discovering astons during uni. and now I'm even attending the church in the area.
I love katong! it's convenient to me yet not so accessible to the entire Singapore population because it doesn't have a nearby train station (for now). I love the houses here too! though the prices are exorbitant. I really wish my future home can be in this area!
seeing this sign, I can't help but sing along one of the national day songs 'Di tanjong katong, airnya buri. di situ tempatnya dara jelita...'

Ixora (105/365)
I am sure these flowers are not unfamiliar to many. They are planted in alot of places in Singapore. I will always remember childhood times where my cousin and I like to pluck these flowers and then further separate them petals by petals. And after accumulating alot of petals, we will play with it, throwing it around. Showers of ixora petals. Yea, those were the days

Cardholder (104/365)
This is a pretty cardholder that i received from my girlfriend of 10 years. it's a milestone to our friendship and it was a sweet gesture of her to get it for me. she thinks it's a little too showy, too red but i told her i love it. it's good we have such different taste because whatever she won't get for herself, she knows that means it is suitable for me. i trust her taste always.
anyway, there seems to be a recent card craze. maybe cos of standchart credit card promotion, giving 80 bucks. everyone seems to be applying cards and this when a cardholder would come in handy. cos you wouldn't want your wallet to be bulging and fat. so yea, a cardholder to put those cards away neatly. =)

Dessert marketing (103/365)
Now, you even find such ads advertising for dessert. There is even a man standing behind the poster, going out pamphlets. In our society now, advertising and marketing have no boundaries. Whatever you can do to get consumer's attention, it is your stage. I miss raffles place though, now that I am in tanjong pagar. Raffles place courtyard always have interesting marketing gimmicks, from people dressed weirdly, bikini babes to giving out lots or freebies. Alot of interesting ways one can market their products

too much fried food!
I think I need to detox and abstain from junk food for at least a week. been consecutively eating fried stuff like fries almost everyday since the long weekend!!
had a fried platter at manhattan fish market thanks to my stand chart voucher. it was really a HUGE platter, got abit jelat after awhile. ordered this minty drink. was abit doubtful of my friend's taste at first but fortunately it turned out not bad! very refreshing amongst the oiliness! ok, I'm determined to eat bland and healthy for the next couple of days!

PriceBreaker- low fares everywhere (102/365)
Do you know about this? This is a travel agency that claims to do low fare travels. Usually I will not even look at travel agencies, much less visit one when I want to travel but I an doing research on redang and there are no direct airlines that fly there from Singapore!!! So I decided maybe I should find a package from a travel agency to travel to redang.
Or maybe I should change destination.

The Buffalo Wings shop
the greedy sisters headed out to get some buffalo wings for supper. ok the picture might be totally irrelevant but I couldn't find any other greens.
anyway we ordered the level 4 wings. tried the level 5 before and died. level 4 was manageable. and had cheesy fries too. die, I really need to detox! been having lots of junk food =/
this buffalo wings shop is relatively new and is located at the bottom of some HDB flat in my estate. open till 11pm so if you are craving for some spicyness or simple western fare, do give this place a try! :)

Cosmopolitan (101/365)
There was a time, I was crazy about the cocktail, cosmopolitan. And it's all thanks to the tv series- Sex and the City. My green partner of this blog even bought me a handwash call cosmopolitan! Too bad, that is pink or else it will definitely be my red picture somewhere in this project.
i used to use this mix to make myself a cup of cosmo if i want to. but now, i find it much easier to mix the concoction myself, according to my own preference. The ingredients are easy to find- vodka, triple sec, lime and cranberry juice. I even have a shaker at home to complete the job! haha!

unknotted.
bought a massage deal on outlet.sg one random afternoon when my friend said she wanted one. and only after I made my purchase that i started being afraid of what kinda deal I got myself into. firstly, the spa name sounds pretty dubious. and most spas usually offer the common Thai, Javanese or Swedish massage. don't really hear much about myanmar massage.
so anyway I got both of us the deal and made the booking. was supposed to go together but my friend was held up with work commitments so headed to the massage myself! it turned out to be pretty good =) the place was small but comfortable and relaxing. i even had some value added service! haha! i was ALMOST swayed into purchasing a package from them but fortunately the rational sensible voice in me reigns! bet the lady boss must be very disappointed and thinking what a cheapo I am. who cares! i think i still prefer to have my massages in thailand or batam. so much cheaper!
i really love massages! wish i could lead a tai tai lifestyle and be pampered with spas and massages on a regular basis!

Chilli padi (100/365)
To those who like some spiciness in their lives, chilli padi should be something you cannot do without.
It's amazing how these chilli padi can increase the flavour of our food. Put it in soup and we get a kick from the numbing sensation in our tongue. Or we can put it with a little bit of light sauce and add as a dip. You can practically chop it, cut it or blend it to make balachan or sambal. So useful! and some say eating chilli padi has slimming effects as well!
On another note, happy 100 days to our project 365!

Yogurt cake (99/365)
I have a insatiable appetite for cakes lately. I keep wanting to eat cakes. From normal sponge cake, to cream cake then ice cream cake and now even this yogurt cake is making me salivate.
Looks like I will be going on cake hunting this week.

The New Uniform
went down to army emart at safra mount faber today and had fun browsing through the stuff. I don't have a brother, neither did I have a boyfriend who I had to see through his army days. so I never had a chance to send anyone off at tekong or knew about army credits you could make use of to shop for free!
anyway the Singapore army uniform has a new design recently (hmm not sure how long ago the new design was introduced). so my friend had to purchase the new set for reservist. i actually don't quite like the new design. looks weird. still prefer the old one, looks more army-ish. =p I'm so tempted to get stuff from the emart, like the comfortable singlet and shorts, the microfiber towel, the camou cream to play with etc. haha! too bad these items can only be purchased with credit. maybe I should start going around to pull strings!

Deborah (98/365)
Found this shop in novena velocity today. It is a shop that sells woman's handbag. The thing that caught my attention is the name, cos I happened to have a cousin who is named Deborah.
Velocity is filled with sportswear and sports related shops. So to see this bag shop was quite a surprise for me. I spent half a day there with my dearest friends, just catching up and hanging out. I found quite a few nice pubs and eateries nearby I wanna try out next time. Till then.

Lantern
as I knew it was gonna be a difficult weekend to pass for me, I jumped at the chance for an impromptu night out. anything to keep myself busy instead of wallowing. =p anyway it was between lantern or butter. both places I've been wanting to check out too since I've never gone before.
well the final vote was to lantern :) nice view! drinks were slightly pricey but not too bad. i liked my english summer :) my friend's red lantern was very refreshing too! ambience wasn't as nice as I had expected. service was pretty lousy though.
I wouldn't mind coming back again but definitely not my no.1 choice for a chill out spot. I wouldn't be raving to my friends about it or dying to come back again. unlike my love for the likes of one twenty-six (my friends can attest to that). so my overall feel about lantern is so-so only.

Group Therapy Cafe
finally got to check out Group Therapy Cafe! (yes I know, I have a long list of places I've been wanting to try!) been arranging with friends to try group therapy since months ago and finally got the chance! Group Therapy is a pretty small cafe on the 2nd level of 49 Duxton Road. well I quite like the Duxton/tanjong pagar area with all these quaint little hangouts.
anyway I had the poached eggs which was served on thick toast with smoked salmon and melted cheese. gosh totally love the melted cheese with hollandiase sauce. yummy yumms! when the dish was first served, I thought the portion was quite small but surprisingly I was stuffed even before i cleared my plate out! says alot for a big eater me! my friend ordered the ham and cheese panini. got to steal some of it and I love it too! it's not the plain old boring ham and cheese sandwich we can do it ourselves. the panini was nicely toasted and the swiss mushrooms complemented the ham and cheese. yummy too! :)
however I felt that the selection was relatively limited though. but I guess u can't really expect an extensive menu from a small cafe. overall the food was good and the ambience was very chilled. service can be better though. but will definitely come back again!

IJ ring (97/365)
This was given to each and every IJ girl who graduated on their prom night. ( I'm not sure if they still have this tradition now though)
I love this ring. It has the word IJ on it and everyone gets one. Ring symbolizes unity, a representation of something you want to remember and hold in dearly. At least that is what it meant for me. I have always been a wear ring person and this tradition started way in secondary school. I always wear my ring on right hand 3rd finger. You can see a ring mark on that finger now even.
