marriage rededication ceremony

helped out at the ceremony in church today and I'm glad i went. it was such a touching and heartwarming affair :)

there were altogether 19 couples renewing their vows, from couples who were married for 4 months to couples who've stayed together for 61 years! 61!! I cannot imagine how long is that!! but they renewed my hope in love. it's definitely not easy to maintain a marriage, that's why a marriage central on God is utmost important. God should be the foundation of the relationship :)

before the ceremony, there was also a video where it showed the letter the couples write to each other, thanking them for being part of their lives. so touching! I couldn't bring myself to finish reading some of them because I was starting to tear and that would e so embarrassing!

well, I love weddings. they are such sweet and happy affairs :)

Love-a-lot bears (182/365)

Many of you don't know this colour bear but she is Love-a-lot bear!

Love-a-Lot Bear is a lovely little bear who loves to spread love! She's cute, friendly, perky and tries to make sure love is felt by all those around her. Love-a-Lot is pink and her belly badge is two overlapping hearts. She's the eternal romantic of the group. No matter what's going on, Love-a-lot says it's all to romance. She has the power to make people fall in love with each other.

i hope my partner does up a entry of the green bear.

kikkonman sauce

these little packets of soy sauce usually comes as a complimentary with any purchase of sushi for take aways. but i normally find them not enough for my sushi! the packets are so small! however, any additional packet is an additional of about 10cents. (or is it 20 cents or 50 cents?) im not sure of the amount cos i refuse to pay more for soy sauce. im equally contented enjoying my sushi sauceless.

how willing are you pay for extra sauce?

speaking of this topic, have you heard about the latest news? macdonalds is charging an extra 30cents for curry sauce. they are indeed such opportunists. so, will you pay for the extra 30cents? for me, i won't. anyway i like the sweet and sour sauce best! so im happy just eating with sweet and sour sauce and i'm willing to forgo curry sauce.

red camera (181/365)

Was browsing at courts when I saw this pretty thing today. in the past, cameras are such boring colour, silver? black? now, cannon, samsung and other brands are coming up with bright and pretty colours to attract their buyers. Me, for instant will definitely buy a camera because of the colour first. and i know that is not practical. but i am someone who looks at the exterior of the things i use. and my partner thinks so too, i bet, so as long as the item is green. ahaha.

Toni&Guy (180/365)

And this is one hard conditioner to buy. First, this is a product that IS off the shelf yet I cannot seem to find it at all Watsons. Anyway, this is a male conditioner that I keep telling the boy, smells like marshmallow. So if anyone see it around, please let me know, I need to stock up on it.

pastries and cupcake stores

there is an increasing number of cute little dessert/cake stores opening up, the likes of twelve cupcakes, soghurt, yogoru, chocolate origin etc. and there are quite number of them in i12 katong. the basement has quite a few choices. i forgot the name of this shop but they have really pretty cakes. do check out i12 katong for their eateries. quite alot of choices actually!

Bird Nest (179/365)

All of us probably know how bird's nest is formed. But it doesn't seem to stop many from wanting to consume them. I often wonder, if I am rich enough to have bird nest ever week, will I enjoy a good complexion?

Because a person who has good complexion gave credits to his mum who cooked bird nest for him every other week. I wonder how true.

2B pencils

Nostalgic posts 2 days in a row. Doesn't this sharpener brings back memories of our kindergarten and primary school days? The normal pencil sharpener usually has only one hole, so when i first saw this new version with a big and a small hole, i was pretty fascinated by it. i used to always sharpen my colour pencils cos i like my pencils sharp so that i can colour within the lines.

Speaking of sharpening pencils, gosh, it's been so long since i last used a 2B pencil! with the increased availability of mechanical pencils, i never like 2B pencils because of the hassle of having to sharpen it and when it's blunt, my handwriting tends to become ugly and messy too. hmm, i wonder if today's kids still use 2B pencils or has the usage of pencils all move to mechanical pencils only already?

Annie (178/365)

I'm very very interested in this!!

From its Broadway beginnings to the classic film musical, this heart-warming rags-to-riches story of plucky young Annie's adventures, from the hard-knock New York orphanage to the luxurious home of billionaire businessman Oliver Warbucks, is a tale that has been told all over the world for decades and won numerous major awards.

The UK's hilarious star of stage and TV screen Su Pollard leads a star cast of over 40, as the dastardly gin-soaked Miss Hannigan, while David McAlister, a veteran of the West End stage and TV dramas, plays the kindly Daddy Warbucks.

With a memorable score including "It's A Hard Knock Life", "Easy Street" and the legendary "Tomorrow", fantastically visual choreography, a side-splittingly funny script and of course the adorable dog Sandy, it really is no surprise that ANNIE has become one of the best loved family musicals of all time.

Annie will be playing in Singapore at Marina Bay Sands.

MOF (177365)

I met my client at MOF and since I was super hungry, decided to wolf down a meal in 10 minutes before the client turns up. I chose something cheap that I thought cannot go wrong- chicken laksa. And boy, was I wrong.

I forgot this is MOF, which is a Japanese dining place. And when I order something do Chinese, they cooked it abit different as well. First the noodles is the yellow kind which I hate. I figured why I like laksa so much to begin with is because of the thick beehoon. Then no cockles. And the chicken is not the white shredded kind, it is some braised or dark colour chicken that taste abit like the Chinese 肉丁.

mattresses

These thin mattresses always remind me of my childhood days where I used to stay with my grandparents and I sleep on this kind of mattresses in the living room. too young then to mind the hardness of the floor but very contented every night to go to sleep with my chou chou pillow and bloster.

It's still very useful to have such mattresses in the house. especially when you have occasional visitors who may stay over. or even useful for days when you just want to have a quick and cooling nap on the floor. so yes, i think i'll always keep spare mattresses at home!

wedding favors

I think my partner blog about wedding favours recently. well I have a similar post today! came across this pack of cards at my friend's place today. it's actually a wedding favour from a recent wedding and I thought it was one of the nicest wedding favours I've seen! I really like it! it's a set of poker cards with difference quotes/verses about love on each card. so sweet and romantic! it's the first time I'm seeing this, quite refreshing from the usual chocolates, chopsticks or fruit cake.

btf, you can consider this! :) but then again, if every wedding were to start giving this, it'll just be another pack of cards.

Oriental box (176/365)

I found this treasure at someone's place. I always like boxes, whatever shape, size or pattern they come in. Boxes always equate to gifts to me. And my secondary love language is gifts. So whenever I are boxes, I would have this urge to open them.

Baby wipes (175/365)

This is a must have when you are out. Either this or wet tissues. Of course wet wipes will be a better choice as it is meant to be softer on the skin, not so harsh. This your skin won't be rough if you use more wet tissues. Very useful especially when you are out the whole day, never know when you hands will come in contact with sticky things. Or after a hot day out, it comes in handy as well. Wipe away all the dirt and stickiness

work safety

saw this outdoor ad at paya lebar mrt station about work safety by MOM. not sure if it's the best place to put such an ad. yes people do see it but because it's not near any work place. I wonder if it's effective in encouraging work safety. well I hope it will at least create awareness as people see this ad on their way to work. I think social ad campaigns are the toughest to bring your message across in a way people will remember and yet the advertisement isn't too boring. so far, I think I like the gambling act with the little girl and her piggy bank the best!
hmm, I do miss working in advertising alittle.

Monopoly money (174/365)

I love monopoly, it started with one board, the original one then Singapore various , then the many many versions that one after that. I even have the FIFA world cup version. I am a monopoly fan, a ardent collector. If it is not because my mother started scolding about those board games collecting dust and all, and the fact that they keep increasing price, I would've bought so many more. I can even memorize prices of the deeds and rental. I am a fan!

eat more fruits!

I admit, I've got very bad eating habits. a diet that has not enough vegetables and fruits. and I realised I only have a limited number of fruits that I like. not very good. so my dad bought kiwis. kiwis have a unique taste and I'm not very fond of it. but for the sake of being healthy and also not to waste my dad's efforts for cutting the fruit for me, I ate a quarter of it. I need to eat more fruits!

new shoes!

finally got this pair of shoes out from its box and put it to good use for the first time after purchasing it 3 months ago. wore it to zumba tryout today. it was so fun! I'm hooked! :) but my coordination is pretty bad..

am probably going to sign up for the class! then I can get to wear this pair of shoes more often. and since we are on the topic of shoes. I'm reminded of the superstition that you cannot give shoes as gift as the person will walk away from you. hmm, do you believe in that?

Chinese dictionary (173/365)

I chanced upon this today and wondered, how many young children today know how to use a Chinese dictionary. Especially when nowadays they use the digital one. seriously, nowadays kids, it is such a digital world.

one thing for certain, whether using the real chinese dictionary or digital one, their hanyu pinyin sux. haha

The cat without the mouth (172/365)

I am not a hello kitty fan and never will be. I have a girlfriend who is a huge hello kitty fan. She used to like hello kitty secretly, or what we call a closet fan. But as she grows older, she started coming out of the closet and now everything that is hello kitty, she will like. And I always warn people, don't hate hello kitty, just feel indifferent. Because when you hate, you start to take note of it more often and like the saying goes, "hate is the direct opposite of love." if you hate, you might end up living it! Haha

coconut chips

I don't normally snack alot and when I buy tidbits during my travels, it's usually as gifts for people. I think food is the easiest to get from overseas. So I bought this coconut chips snacks from chatuchak and I love it so much! i had 5 packets and wanted to distribute to people but i've been consuming them all by myself! 5 packets is so not enough!! i should have bought more!

btf, can you help me get this when you go bkk? i think it can be found quite easily!

mummy's bday dinner

happy bday mummy! and we headed to my favourite japanese restaurant for dinner. i think both the partner and i have been posting quite a number of sushi tei related pictures. can't help it, we are there just too often.

here's wishing my mum good health and wealth. and that she'll remain youthful always!

time really flies, its scary. we are already in the middle of june. before we know it, 2012 bids farewell.

Ok, my last, I promise (171/365)

I really promise this is my last McDonald's picture as my red picture of the day. This is simply too tempting. i was thinking of what to post for my picture of the day. then i saw him. how not to take. i think mcdelivery is simply the most awesome thing, particularly because they operate 24/7. or do they? i know they operate until very late kind. the only silly think about it is that, my house has a 24 hours macs and it is a 10 mins walk away. on days when i am simply too lazy, i will calla nd incur a $5 surcharge just for it. haha..

toiletries shopping

not sure if I mentioned this before (think I did), besides grocery shopping, I also enjoy toiletries shopping. yah I know, the makings of an auntie =/ Watson has been atrium sales in various malls. went to walk around to see what interesting stuff they have and any good promotions. saw this cart of shampoo. probably kids shampoo judging from the packaging. very eye catching but doesn't seem to be selling well since there were so many left!

Fizzy kola candy (170/365)

I was in the lecture for the whole day from 9am to 5pm. if i don't have sweets, i will be nodding my way off every min of the lecture. not that the lecturer was boring but is the topics that he covered. i should have been more prepared before listening to him lecture today. either what he mentioned i already knew from schooling days or too chim and he lost me after a while.

hopefully no more trainings and lectures for the next few months to come.

salted caramel

what a relaxing Sunday afternoon it was today, catching up with friends over dim sum and desserts in the Thomson area where I seldom go. so it was a refreshing change.

tried salted caramel for the first time and I like it! at least better than udders, imho. had a difficult time deciding on the flavour and finally settled on the earl grey. a great choice! will probably be back again! will have the Horlicks, kahlua and avocado next time!

My red Nike sneakers (169/365)

This pair of a sneakers has been with me since 5 years ago. The reason why I bought it then wasn't because I Lund it unique with the flower pattern at the top. And also, that period of time was the cny. But most importantly, I saw that it was limited edition. And I am a sucker for things like that. Anyway, this pair of shows has served me faithfully over the years and even on days like today where I have to work, at least looking at it makes me happier.

my estate's hawker centre

it's a very prominent feature in this area. this long row of hawker centre along circuit road. I love hawker centres, all the cheap and good food and am glad to have a hawker centre nearby! this hawker centre has fed me for so many years. well I've always been staying in this area so technically it has fed me since I was born? =p

lots of yummy food here like the hokkien mee, loh mee, Hakka yong tau fu, pig organ's soup, ice kachang etc. but it's a pity most of the stalls close pretty early. wanted to find some food for supper at 12 midnight but most stalls were closed already. so we ended up having fishball noodles (which turned out pretty good!) and iced milo! I wish more stalls will own till at least 1am?

Happy happy!! (168/365)

When I saw this, I totally smiled. Mr happy has such a big and infectious smile. I think if I have a kid, I will make him carry this bag whole day long, just to crack me up. Have a happy weekend everyone! Smile all the way

Five stones

five stones were an integral part of our primary school days. I was so crazy about playing five stones that I would go school earlier than usual just to have more time playing with my friends. and I still remember there were certain kind of five stones that were very easy to play with, either those small ones with fine sand or slightly bigger ones with a red/green beans in them.

well how these traditional games have evolve. found this cat designed five stones in one of my cupboards. haven't tried playing them yet. they look too cute to be five stones. but maybe we should revive the game of five stones! partner, shall we? ;)

Cooking set (167/365)

Such a pretty cooking masak masak, as compared to what I had in the past. I love playing cooking when I was a child. Make believe cooking. The only sad thing I felt when I was a child is that I cannot eat whatever I just 'cooked'. Thankfully now that I grow older, I can cook and play around with the kitchen utensils and come out with nice ad interesting recipes.

new product?

saw this at the counter in Watson. a scratch remover pen. they had a tv screen showing the instructions and applications of this scratch removal pen. looks interesting. but i wonder the effectiveness of it.. care to try anyone?

Wedding gift from the couple (166/365)

I didn't know people do such stuff now. When they do not invite you to their wedding, they give cakes and such as a gift. I thought only when people celebrate their baby's first month then they do that. Apparently, now people do that for weddings as well! Oh well, I enjoyed the cakes, the mochi and candies. New idea..

jap class!

moshi moshi! I've been attending weekly basic japanese classes for the past month and I really look forward to it every week! hopefully I'll be able to remember what I learn and practise it! maybe it's another very valid excuse to visit Japan again! =p

Angry bird (165/365)

How could I not include angry bird as one of my picture of the day i seriously don't know what is the big deal with that game. i tried once, don't find it fun but apparently, the whole world think so and ta-da! the creator of angry birds are rich! haha

the craze of angry bird is like everywhere. you can find them on t-shirts, on cups, on notebook, pencils, anything you name, you can find angry bird. frankly, i am blind to their existence, cos i dun care.

Angry birds has been praised for its successful combination of addictive gameplay, comical style, and low price. Its popularity led to versions of Angry Birds being created for personal computers and gaming consoles, a market for merchandise featuring its characters and even long-term plans for a feature film or television series. With a combined 1 billion downloads across all platforms and including both regular and special editions, the game has been called "one of the most mainstream games out right now", "one of the great runaway hits of 2010", and "the largest mobile app success the world has seen so far".

Bicycle at void deck (164/365)

Do you know although Singapore has a low crime rate, we all know it does not mean no crime. and bicycle theft is one the top of our crime list. it is so easy to steal a bicycle therefore the lock we buy must be secured. sometimes, even if the person who steals the bicycle cannot unlock the lock, they would still want to steal your spare parts to sell, such as the bell, the wheels, or whatever parts they can dismantle.

is it ever safe to park our bicycle outdoors then? i have no answer to this question. just don't put really expensive and attractive ones in the public, put those at phone. if you wanna put bicycles in public areas, make sure it is old and not the least bit attractive.

silence is golden

When I want some me-time, sometimes I find myself ending up in the library. it's a pretty serene places. there's people around but yet you have your privacy and whatever me-time you want. I like the kind of quietness in the library, quiet but with people around. feels like there's still some activity. just nice for me cos I hate absolute silence.

Baby food (163/365)

this is a really random post. but it will have to do for my picture of the day. some restaurants do provide a special bowl if you require them to. special in the sense, for babies to eat. anyway, now that i am not married and have no kids yet, i really detest those families who bring all their young kids to restaurants. all the running around, screaming, some babies even crying. totally spoil my appetite and i cannot wait to leave the restaurant.

so i figure, we have to go places that are cramped and not spacious, so that families will think twice before bringing their kids to such places. i am horrible, i know. but singles' mind mans.

living out of a suitcase

I can literally do that for a month! I haven't fully unpacked, just taking my clothes out bit by bit. of which some of my clothes are still in plastic bags like this. I'm sure many would recognize this familiar initials :)

my room is still in a mess with my luggage half unpacked. so lazy!!

Sunday, June 10, 2012

and I'm back.

:( well, all good things must come to an end. it was a really good break. sad to be back in Singapore but good that the trip has ended or we'll be spending even more!

always feels good when I return to changi airport after being away. just that fleeting moment of heartwarming feeling to be home.

and as always after every return, can't wait for the next trip out!

Huge strawberries (162/365)

Or what I call, mutated strawberries! How could strawberries ever grow until so big!! It looks mutated to me, genetically modified. maybe this picture doesn't seem so big but trust me, if you make your way pass any cold storage, go take a look. they are huge!

i never used to like strawberries until i fell in love with the colour red. that period of time, i even started using strawberry shower foam and also strawberry moisturiser. as the time passes by, i fell in love with strawberries altogether. even though sometimes they can be sour, but it is nice eating strawberries, not knowing if you will get sweet or sour the next.

Saturday, June 9, 2012

way over budget

yes, we have way exceeded our budget, it's crazy! i didn't quite expect myself to spend so much! but who am i kidding. we just couldn't stop!! totally lost self control. thoughts of skipping meals just so we have spare money to buy another top even went through our minds. thats a whole new level of shopaholism! to even want to skip meals in the land of cheap and good food! terrible us. haha!

Beaufort hotel (161/365)

Went to beaufort resort today to check out its ballroom and surroundings. Very nice, with a out of Singapore feel as it is surrounded with lots of greenery. Even the lobby feels so resort-ish. It is like we were in Bali again. Everything is serene, laid back with a occasional show up of a peacock, which gave me quite a bit of scare. Haha!

Red xiao long bao (160/365)

This is one of the colourfu xiao long baos we had. i am sure this colourful combination is not unfamiliar to many. and i love the fact that you can mix and match the ones you wanna eat. cos i never like the yellow one, which is CHEESE!  so anyway, this red one is spicy beef. this rendition of the colourful xiao long baos come from crystal jade. i love! nicer than paradise inn ones. i had a lovely meal!

payphone

with almost everyone owning a handphone, I wonder if anyone still uses the pay phone. but somehow pay phones are still around. this is a rather striking bright green phone! i sure noticed it at the little corner of the best shopping mall in this city!! so vintage-looking!

Thursday, June 7, 2012

citin hotel

this hotel really suits me! because the theme is in green!! from the lobby, reception counter, lift doors to the room number, I'm surrounded with green everyday here!

this hotel is really great! good location, clean and comfortable room, attentive service and very affordable prices! I would definitely consider this the next time I'm here and will introduce to my friends!

Shop and save (159/365)

Chance upon this when i was q-ing up at shop and save. i'm not exactly sure what this is, maybe it is a shopping bag. maybe it is a first aid kit? whatever it is, fits into my red picture of the day. anyone sees this at shop and save, do let me know what it is, k?

Time and tide waits for no man (158/365)

Feeling a little old on this day, and that is probably i visited a place that sells alot of clocks. really, as my title says, the one thing that goes up and never come down is our age. and whether we like it or not, we will keep growing older. not necessarily wiser or more achieved over the years, and yet all the signs around us tells us we are growing older.

for instance, when the stars we grow up with gets married and have kids. they used to act girly roles and now they are like auntie roles on tv. another sign is when our metabolism rate drops and we cannot eat as much as we want without growing fatter. and lastyl, when your parents are starting to push responsibilities and bills to you. haha...

goodbye Singapore!

a much needed break! goodbye Singapore! see you in 5 days!
