Indonesian food

I had Indonesian food at koufu for lunch today. BBQ chicken with sweet sauce and curry rice. quite disappointing though. I guess nothing can beat the famous riverside Indonesian BBQ chicken at plaza singapura. my colleague mentioned that to me when she saw me buying this. looks like I'm not the only one who loves that stall in ps!

Roadshow (213/365)

Today marks the end of the 3-day roadshow. Standing one whole day under such erratic weather is no joke. I am doubly tired each time after a roadshow. This is the thing we used to attract people, asking people to guess how much money is on the tree. Actually it is pretty easy, but our locations is not that ideal this time round, didn't manage to get people to want to come and guess the money, but i did manage to get quite a few leads.

Jia you!

Cheque book (212/365)

I have 2 checking accounts, one of which is from HSBC. Though i have two cheque books, my record of writing checks can be counted by 10 fingers. I am still not very good at writing cheques, as in i can't do it without checking two or three times. I think the secretary in my company can do a much better job than me.

I remember when i was young, i see mummy write cheques. That was my first memory of cheque. I remember asking her why she have to write the amount in alphabets and then end it with only. And i remember asking how come she write the figures and must put crosses behind. i don't remember her giving me logical answers then. maybe she just said that is how they way it should be. But as a degree holder in banking and finance, i know the logical answer now.

I still like the sound of tearing out the cheque after it is written. Satisfying sound!

dollar sign!

admittedly I'm quite money minded! monetary rewards does motivate me. people say money can't buy you happiness. well actually to a small extent, I think money can solve quite alot of issues that make one sad so in a way, money can buy you some happiness. as much as I'm not liking my current job, I'm gonna stick it out and hopefully be monetarily rewarded.

Exfoliation day! (211/365)

I love exfoliation. I feel so clean and smooth after each exfoliation session. Of course, one shouldn't do too much exfoliation, especially not on a daily basis. If we do too much exfoliation, our skin might get thinner each time we exfoliate. Like that, very easily susceptible to sensitivity.

However, the bits and pieces rubbing on the skin feels very good. I have decided to exfoliate on a weekly basis. I smell so good now! Like strawberry!! Haha

French Hotel

during our weekend at Ipoh, we stayed at the relatively new French Hotel. apparently it's the number 2 hotel in ipoh. prior to our trip, the reviews I read online were very positive! and well, I agree to the comments!

the hotel is nicely located, walking distance to the famous dim sum places, foo shan hk dim sum and Ming court opposite. personally I prefer Ming court. anyway back to the hotel, it pretty comfortable. we booked the deluxe twin and even though it was 2 single beds joined to one to form a double bed, i couldn't feel the gap between the two beds unlike other hotels! which is good.

I like the design of the toilet. gonna use this idea when I have my own apartment next time! do bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste though. it isn't provided. overall, it's a nice stay, I wish we had one more day though. I would definitely stay in this hotel again!

Mackie's (210/365)

I always like to eat different kinds of potato chips. I am not a person who can down on whole packet of chips but i like to try different varieties, especially when they are not common in the market. I chanced upon this at Cold Storage today. And while i was deciding whether to get it or not (because 'atas' potato chips always very expensive, look at keattle!), i saw TWO FOR $5.90. And the usual price per packet is  $5.10. So eithout any doubt, i grabbed two packs!

My favourite thus far is keattle's sweet onion. Wonder if this will be better than that. yumms. I firgure i will just open and eat abit. and put in the fridge for others to eat. bad habit i know.

Station 18 @ ipoh

besides eating, honestly there isn't much to do in Ipoh. the town is relatively quiet and it's actually the weekend! most shops along the roads are closed and you don't really find alot of cars moving around.

anyway we decided to head to the mall to spend our time and hiding away from the scorching sun. went to the newly opened mega mall - station 18, upon recommendation from the hotel reception. the mall is huge!! with the usual FOS, Padini, Summit etc. we even caught a movie! and now I'm in love with spiderman too. I cant decide if i love ironman or spiderman more.

digressing, I think the mall is self equipped just that accessibility is abit of problem. in fact in ipoh, it's quite difficult to move around by public transport. cabs are not readily available. so next time, make sure there's a local to bring you around when you are there!

Fizzy apple juice (209/365)

I love apple juice, whether is it freshly squeezed, peelfresh in a carton or the fizzy kind. Could my love for apple has anything to do with my love for the colour red?

An apple a day keeps the doctor away. Woots!

five star tour

so we decided to go on a short getaway to ipoh for the weekend. took the bus comfy 18seater five star tour coach. indeed the seats were super spacious and there was even onboard entertainment! but as ladyluck would have it, my seat was spoilt!! it couldn't recline!! so much for paying more for comfort! I ended up having to sit up throughout the 7hour bus journey :(

i had a long day so I simply concussed throughout the journey. I only lasted 10mins of my onboard entertainment before I was sleeping like a log. I didn't even know there were pit spots!! I slept so soundly as usual! I think that's the danger of me travelling alone. when I sleep I'm totally oblivious to my surroundings!

anyway I wouldn't mind going on a coach up to Malaysia again. but I doubt any of my friends would want!

My bright bright mouse (208/365)

I was using com in the semi dark room, turning on only the light behind me and then i realised the red light coming out from my mouse is super bright. almost glaring kind. and there, i got my red picture of the day.

I always buy cheap mouse because i am a very clumsy person. all my mouse never serve me for more than a year, before failing on me. so hi new mouse, i might have to say bye to you soon. Just this year, i already changed 2 mouse. Unless, anyone knows of good brands and won't spoil even if i keep knocking and dropping it. Please recommend. =)

rubber band

among the many little nonsense I like to buy, rubber bands are one of them. and recently at pasar malams, you can usually find this stall selling rubber bands and clips for really cheap! and e everytime I walk past it, I cannot resist buying even though I already have many rubber bands at home!! so yes this is one of the rubber bands I bought. if I didn't remember wrongly, it's 3 for $1!! how cheap is that!!

Green Tea kitkat!

yumms I love this!!! green tea kitkat that's unique to japan and can only be bought there. but hurrays! they can now be bought in Singapore too!!! but I think there is limited distribution or if it's a promotion pack available during this period and it's only available in NTUC fairprice outlets. it's super nice!! so go get yours from fairprice now!!! before they run out of stocks!

At Burger King (207/365)

Such a red poster.

Such a red wall.

I found this at burger king. "Man discovered fire for a reason" To grill the meat for the burgers at burger king.

I like the burger king at raffles place. Especially in the late afternoon, not many people there and they play old school music. I had a nice time alone there today. Chilling by yourself is not such a bad thing after all.

Robinsons sales (206/365)

I always look forward to robinsons expo sale!

can always sweep good and cheap stuff!

Corporate Social Responsibility

I'm not a coffee person. in fact, I don't drink coffee at all. but i accompanied my friend to Starbucks today. if I were a Starbucks fan, I'll probably have a lot of green posts on it! there are just so many green stuff around! well, the corporate colour itself is green!

anyway I think it's good that Starbucks is a super CSR company. and i think this is a good practice to have but perhaps they can make it even more effective by giving discounts to those who use their own mug. I'm sure that will definitely increase the number of people adopting this! and just like how we should consider bringing our own containers when we go and tabao food!

Toothpaste surprise (205/365)

I always look forward to changing toothpaste every month. because my mum does not have any preference. She buys whatever she likes and so every month, i change toothpaste. I tried all different kinds from colgate. and there was this once, she bought one for sensitive teeth. not very appropriate for us. she didn't realise. i think she just like the packaging. haha!

self service

my 2nd lunch in the area at this new workplace. tried another food court today though I had no idea where I walked to, just blindly followed my colleagues. got myself a mini wok noodles for lunch and the stall is self service. actually stores in food court are usually self service. or for that matter most eateries are self service. I think it's more efficient this way too. I think there should be more self service practices around. in fact in some supermarket I think they already implemented the self check out system can't remember if I saw it in Europe or china. but yes I think it can get more common in Singapore!

One big one small (204/365)

This is such a cute combination. although i think they are pretty as compared to the old ones we have, the green and black ones, i don't think i will ever use them. to pump choked up toilet bowls and whatever else people use that for.

water the plants!

spotted these green watering cans at a random dry store. the green cans were tempting me to get one! as much as I love the colour green, I dont have green fingers! mainly cos i don't have the patience and I'm very absentminded so i end up forgetting to water the plants!

Saturday, July 21, 2012

Mint-green nails

this is one of my favourite colour nail polish so far. mint-green! I think this colour is currently trending in the fashion scene. I wanna get a mint green pants!

anyway I have very ugly toenails. I think it's partly caused by my love for pointed heels. the toenail, particularly the one on my 3rd toe seems pretty deformed. so yah have to cover it up with bright coloured nail polish!

GV (203/365)

How many of us are GV members? I remember this period of time that it was so easy to be their member. It was free of charge and you do get certain perks as a gv member. The one that i often use is when i book movie tickets online, i get the free SMS confirmation as a GV member. If i am not, they charge me a 20 cents. Apart from that, GV members get to eat popcorn set at a cheaper rate.

And the latest, there is this lucky draw thingy. Some sure win prize machine. When you buy movie tickets, 3 tickets and above if i am not wrong, you get a lucky draw ticket. Then you just proceed to the machine and scan it and pick one out of 3 chance to see if can win anything. That simple. We had our chance but nothing great. Almost won a one night stay in some hotel. Oh well...

Seng Kee again

I blogged about this place before but well I'm back here again for supper. realised that a bowl of mian xian is pretty expensive. $4.50 for a bowl is not cheap! where it's just a bowl of mee sua and a few pieces of meat. maybe it's because of the herbal soup that's costly. as much as I am very price sensitive, the price tag is not stopping me from coming back again. It'll be one of my regular supper places!

and now they have this beancurd store beside. so besides the usual barley and lou han guo drink, i can have soya bean!

We high five at the red flower wall (202/365)

Ok, although the focus seems to be the hands, but what i really wanted to show is the red flower background behind. We were back at kembangan mee sua again. I have a craving for it and there we went. I think Seng Kee kind of owned the whole street, i will be back another day to verify if it is true.

Coffee mix (201/365)

I found this at home. Think my parents bought it. I am not a coffee drinker. Think my house will be stocked up with tea, preferable flower tea, and also milo! How can I not support nestle?! Haha

Even if you are a coffee drinker, maybe one can invest in a coffee machine. I think such 3-in-1 style can never come out with good coffee. I should tell my parents that but they most likely ask me to get the machine and the coffee bean. haha! i shouldn't spoil them.

Bintan

lucky me got a chance to go on a getaway retreat on my 3rd day at my new work place :) so off to Bintan I go!

we went to the Bintan lagoon. the resort was pretty nice! at least way better than my recent experience with turi beach resort in batam. I really like the room! very comfy and nicely designed. thinking of going on a solo getaway myself here.

because it was R&R in the afternoon, I followed one of the groups to massage. gosh it's probably one of the most expensive massage I've ever paid :( oh well, but everything in Bintan is so expensive!! boo. definitely not one of the best massage I've ever had but oh wells. I think the next time I go to bintan, I must remember to stock up on food and just eat away in my room! haha!

Candies in a tin (200/365)

These tin was given to me by my partner in blogging when she went japan. she wanted to make it a tradition, somehow. to get candies in a tin for me. somehow, she started the tradition and never continue. because i recall her going other countries after japan and no candies in a tin for me! haha! she might be getting lazier to blog here, but i am not too sure if she will read it. oh well.

anyway, i like such candies, the problem is these candies are hard! not a fan of hard candies. i m a gummy person.

random benches

these benches were found along the road at marine parade. well they look pretty worn as the paint on them is slowly peeling off. these are placed at quite an odd place I feel. I wonder if anyone even rest on them.

I am a Meiji fan (199/365)

I have a affinity with Meiji.

And it call began when i was 18 and working on a year long final year project. My group was lucky to be selected by Meiji's company itself to work on market research and how to promote and advertise. We had alot of supply of chocolates then, because we were working on Meiji's dark chocolate series. The perks of working for a real company as compared to my other peers, who had to come up with a business concept.

Anyway, since then, i particularly open my eyes to Meiji products. And all my favourite snacks such as Yan Yan and hello panda are all meiji products. I particularly like meiji's jellybeans as well. i can list a lot more. but yea, you guys get the drift.

paper clips

as with most of my things, I loved using colourful stuff. likewise, i like using coloured paper clips. but I rarely them these days! do u still use paper clips often?

Bread (198/365)

I'm not a bread person. Never am and never will be. But recently, ever since i won a sandwich maker at a company's lucky draw event, i am slowly experimenting this new machine with bread. it's a new fascination so far, one which i know will die off soon. because there is not much things you can put inside the sandwich maker, any suggestions anyone?

Not to mention the work of cleaning up the machine. haha

Farewell.

it's been a crazy last day at work. non stop handover sessions. i didn't even have time to follow up on some of the remaining stuff on my to-do lists! had to end delegating.

and why did I choose this Qoo can as my picture of the day. firstly, because I take it as kinda like a farewell gift from one of my indirect boss :) she passed this to me one of those late nights last week but I just left it on my desk not drinking it. so gotta bring home now. also, Qoo is one of the brands I manage so of course I'll be reminded of how much I'll miss this job.

well all good things must come to an end. flip the page and I'm ready to start my new chapter.
cheers to Qoo! :)

Honey Wheatgrass

I like drinking liang cha, only the sweet ones. makes me feel healthy. so anyway this honey wheatgrass drink was first introduced to me by BTF! when I first saw it, I never quite dared to drink cos it's all green, i always thought it was some chlorophyll drink which would taste very raw and bland. but how wrong was I!! it's super sweet and light, very refreshing! so ever since, this has always been very choice of drink when I feel like drinking something sweet but slightly healthy.

Zappy Boy (197/3645)

I got these antiseptic wipes when i took part in the sundown marathon this year. Didn't manage to use them until today. I remember days when one of my friend was a nurse in training. She would always take antiseptic wipes to wipe stuff. End up, we always just waste the wipes and never use them for the right purpose.

lazy Saturday

the weather is the perfect weather to laze in bed. with the parents out of town, I took the liberty to occupy their bed and make it my territory. spent the whole day nuaing in bed, watching cable tv and doing up my handover documents. sigh, so much work to clear! if only there wasn't work to worry about, this would have been a perfect me-day!

Anyway it may not be clear but I'm taking pictures of the blanket that I got back from the train in Switzerland :) ahh random, but I'm craving for an adventure.

Red napkins at ikea (196/365)

What do you do when you don't feel like going anywhere too far and yet you want to go out, walk walk and enjoy a lazy afternoon with your loved one.

Ikea is the answer!

free cable tv

I'm a tv addict. I watch almost any type of tv shows. so thanks to starhub for the 3 months free trial! :) I get to enjoy free cable tv! let's hope i'll be freer for the next couple of weeks to be able to enjoy this fully!!

Brick game (195/365)

How old school is this?

And it's very cheap. I wanted to buy one for my dad, because he used to love this! He can play this all night long. Then i thought, now he has iphone, will he still care about this? So i decided not to buy. But i love this!! i think it was the influence of my dad.

Battery (194/365)

It is amazing how useful batteries can come in handy especially when you need them urgently. It is important to have spare batteries in your tool box at home. We might need them anytime. Nowadays we think a lot of things are no longer using batteries, which is true. but sometimes, just some things still need battery. like the remote control at home. Many are still powered by batteries. Even men's shaver, most of them are also battery operated. Even the controls for my wii are also battery operated!

Haha! of course, i know there is such a thing call rechargeable battery. but they are not as trust worthy as our powerful energizer battery! Especially those that are super heavy duty. haha

Brand's essence of chicken

work has been crazy. sleeping only around 2-3hours a night. but yet there's still so much left to do!! thank God for the strength for keeping me well and alive. today, mummy brought out chicken essence for me to give me energy. I like chicken essence :) and mummy always make me drink it when I don't have enough sleep. nay for long late nights but yay for chicken essence!

because I have a craving...

yah of all things, I was craving for macdonalds today! so after jap class, I went to macs to satisfy my craving. I was more of craving for fries!!! besides milo, French fries are my next comfort food.

anyway I didn't know apple pie was only $1! I always thought it was more expensive. somehow macs is getting cheaper with their reduce price for their extra value meals and even having so many promo these days. the current promo is the 20mini bites going for $1.50! I tried that today too and it's not bad! promo is on till Sunday! might go get again these few days... unhealthy much.

Twilight (193/365)

No one will be unfamiliar with this. And usually I am not a book fan. I refuse to join the Harry potter group and the many other start from books then become popular movies but somehow, this book caught my eye. Twilight captured my heart.

I don't care if people ridicule me for liking twilight but I know I didn't like it cos of the 2 male leads, vampire or the werewolve. I like the main character, the human girl. Isabella. Bella for short and that is how I like Kirsten Stewart though she is not pretty or anything. Just something draws me to her, can't explain.

new clothes

I've been a good girl ever since coming back from my trip a month ago. haven't gone shopping and haven't spent on buying new clothes in the last one month! good job me! :) and the best thing is it has been quite easy to think of what to wear for the day cos i still have many new clothes to choose from!

I blogged about h&m before. but finally wore the new top that I bought from that impulse virgin shopping trip at the local store. that was probably about 2 months back?

yay to shopping and new clothes!

Not a eye mask (192/365)

I got a friend to buy for me this when she go Taiwan. And it is not a eye mask though most will jump to this conclusion when they first see this. This is actually a mouth guard. Or what do people call it? Mask for the mouth? In Taiwan and other cold countries, this is actually quite common. One might think oh, is used when we are is k, wen we get Sars or h1n1. But I realized a mouth mask is much more useful than that. It is to keep out the cold. In counties like Taiwan, during the cold season, the wind will be strong. You wouldn't want to dry up your lips by walking on the streets. So yea, that is why some people use mouth mask. Cute ones just kind of accessories you up

more GSS deals

raffles city is having promotions for its F&B outlets, mostly in the basement. I'm quite impressed by the revamped basement. there's actually quite alot of choices, from Korean restaurants, cafes, pastries shop, desserts stall to your on-the-go pack and go food and drinks at stall like gong cha.

and I like the black tiled decor. feels atas. so anyway they are having various promotions. giving free voucher for a minimum spend. shopping rebates etc. you may head down raffles city to check it out!

The Runner's Rule Book (191/365)

I was at running lab and saw this runner's rule book. On the same shelf, i saw books like Running for Dummies as well. I didn't manage to pick up those books and flipped through. I wanted to find out what kind of things will be written in the book. I will go do that one day, I love running, like once i start, the adrenaline will come. BUT the only problem is dragging myself out of the house to run. Humans are so funny. We know we will feel good after doing somethings and yet, the initial inertia is so strong... that we end up not doing it.

i wanna run and tone myself all the way to the wedding!! =/

Happy Ever Laughter

caught the stand up comedy - Happy Ever Laughter by Dream Academy at the esplanade today. And boy, was it awesome!!! i laughed so much throughout the 2hours show, my cheeks hurt!! All the performances were so good, i can't pick which one i like the most!! i enjoyed every single one of them!!

selena tan opened the act, talking about why she named this production 'happy ever laughter' and inserting some political jokes here and there. she even brought it the latest CHC saga! pretty updated jokes i would say ;) after selena, it was moses lim. he talked about food and the difference in eating etiquette between the west and east. next up was the pair made famous by youtube - munah and hirzi. this is the first time i heard about them. but wow, they were so funny! then there was judee tan who impersonate a tcm doctor. her accent and weird laughter was hilarious!! followed by Siti, another character i didn't know before today's act. she came to talk about the OWC (Obedien Wife Club). chua en lai started off with his thai accent and then switched by to his normal tone and talked about horses. of course, we had the ever talented michelle chong who came as salmonrella - the vice president of the SPG club. thought she would have impersonated more characters. cant remember which was the last act before the interval. broadway beng sebastian tan opened the 2nd half. then there was najib ali, gurmit singh and finally KUMAR! kumar is so slim!! his (her) legs are so enviable! and yes, he's as funny as ever!

as you can see, i'm abit lazy to go into the content of the 2nd half. but it was really good! i really love every single act! the almost 100bucks was definitely well spent!! im glad i didn't let the high cost deter me. the 2hrs passed so fast. i could do with an encore! =p

Kenny Rogers (190/365)

Kenny Rogers has come to Tampines! I'm really loving tampines more and more each day. Not that i love kenny rogers but that it really has everything, whether i like it or not. Anyway, kenny rogers has a story of its own. here it is:

The first Kenny Rogers restaurant was opened in Coral Springs, Florida in August of 1991.

Internationally, Kenny Rogers ROASTERS has expanded to various countries around the world and has restaurants in Malaysia, Singapore, China, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Brunei and the Philippines.

Kenny Rogers ROASTERS was awarded three times in a row (1996, 1997, 1998) for the prestigious America's Choice Award Winner for the Best Chicken Chain by Restaurants and Institutions Magazine, a leading publication from USA. Kenny Rogers ROASTERS was also awarded the Master Franchisee of the Year 2000/2001and 2002/2003 by the Malaysian Franchise Association, an affiliate of the World Franchise Council.

In April 2008, Berjaya Corp Bhd (BCorp) wholly owned subsidiary of ROASTERS Asia Pacific and master franchise for Kenny Rogers ROASTERS fully acquired the chain's parent, US-based Nathan's Famous Inc.

Indeed, Kenny Rogers has a really rich history but i have to say, i'm quite disappointed with the food. Nothing impressive. I rather eat Astons.

smelly smelly

actually i've been wanting to use the dustbin as my green pic of the day since the start of this project! but somehow, i just never got around to using it until now! they are so readily available for me to take a picture of it! not sure if i mentioned here before, but the household chore that i hate doing the most is emptying the dustbin. i just hate it!!

and i think dustbin just has this psychological effect on you. seeing this pic of the dustbin, i feel like i can smell it! yucks.

Uni Qlo (189/365)

Uni Qlo always comes up with concept t-shirts and this time round, they printed my favourite korean maggie noodles on the t-shirt. haha! i think this is the food theme as Gogo curry which is extinct in Singapore, is also printed on one of the shirt. Sad. Gogo curry used to be at ion basement on the food level and now they change to this shop call monster curry. boo.

Anyway, i tried to convince my boy to get this shirt, but he refused! Do check out Uni Qlo's latest concept T-shirts.
