quarter life crisis

and so I've reached my midtwenties today. so old. but let's not forget the celebration! afterall, it's my favourite day of the year.

and I'm decked in a dress of my favourite colour! ;)

thanks to family and friends who took time to specially spend the day with me and making me feel like the queen of the day!

A box of candy from my partner (274/365)

And Happy Birthday!

And apparently, my partner does read my entries! Because i was complaining about her not keeping to her traditions in one of my red post of the day a few months back!

Thank you! And happy 25th!

En japanese dining

oops, sorry another lousy picture! but too bad, there weren't any green items for me to take around! another birthday treat from my other BFF at en japanese dining! i feel so loved and pampered with my friends stuffing me with my favourite food!

if you love sashimi, this is the place to go before 8pm! all sashimi and sushis are at 50% during this happy hour!! how awesome is that! and the sashimi is thick and fresh, really good!! the other dishes were yumms too!!

i'm really so thankful and blessed to have such wonderful friends. can't imagine what i'll do without them! i feel so loved!! =) =)

thanks for spending my birthday countdown with me! =)

Cashflow 101 (273/365)

My agency held the annual cashflow game for all our friends and clients and it is once again a succesful event. This time round, we hold the game at SMU campus and i must say, it is a very refreshing place to be in after so many rounds always being held in office space.

For those who ever hear of the Cashflow game. Have you ever wondered what is a rat race? And how to get out of the rat race all of us are in at this point of time.

Cashflow game is the easiest and most fun way to educate yourself about a complex subject call Financial Freedom. This game was created by Robert and Kim Kiyosaki in 1994 after they became financially free. This game is not just a normal game but the only game in the world that educates us on how to convert earned income into passive and portfolio income.

Thank you for all your support. We had a blast. =)

early birthday treat!

ok this is abit cheating to be using salad as my picture of the day. but i don't have any other pic to better depict my day and I want to talk about my birthday treat at big fish from BTF! :)

can't remember the name of the salad but its really yummy! i love the salad! and whenever the two of us eat, we never fail to pig out and stuff ourselves! besides this, we ordered 2 other main dishes, a chicken dish and a seafood platter which was really HUGE! but we managed to gobble all of it down!

from what BTF says, Big Fish seems to have undergo an overhaul. the ambience of the restaurant used to be very different. it has become more of a cafe now with brighter walls and lighting. However, business was relatively slow on a friday night. but i really hope it will last cos i think i want to be back again!

thanks BTF for the birthday treat! :) and it was a good time spent catching up. much love! <3 p="p">

Artificial cherry (272/365)

I stopped eating such artificial cherry when I found out that the preservatives on it to preserve the cherry causes the cherry to stay in your stomach undigested for 7 years. Anyway, real cherries taste much better! More expensive too though.

birthday cards

what's my favourite gift to receive on my birthday? close friends, who know me well, will know that i love receiving personalised birthday cards. and without fail, i will receive a few cards during my birthday and makes me really happy :) what's even nicer if they were delivered through snail mail! that's very rare these days!

but yay, this is one of the traditional bday cards i'll receive in the mail. that thin handwriting with the really fine pen tip. thank you! :)

Wedding again! (271/365)

A very happy cup to have. I only like it because it is red but i think i won't have a oriental concept house so this pair of cups w

Agnes b souvenirs

looks like going hong kong is a trend. my colleague also just came back from hong kong and she bought these chocolates for us. upon seeing these chocs did I realise that i didn't go check out the Agnes b stores in hong kong! anyway this chocolate was not bad. they have different colours for different flavours and I chose this hazelnut one which is green in colour!

A very angry hulk (270/365)

I am used to seeing the green one, not the red one. Either this is a mutated version of The Hulk or somehow the story develop into something else. Not a marvel fan. Just catch the movie as and when it comes out.

hongkong memories

it's been slightly over a week since coming back from hong kong. and I missed it so much! despite being worried about work, it was still a nice getaway with my friends. i didn't shop much for this trip but I bought alot of food back. this almond snack is one of them from maxim cakes. and it's very nice! they have 3 different flavours, this is the original. and there's a choc and lemon. bought the other flavours but haven't tried them yet. hong kong is really a food paradise!

Popcorn maker (269/365)

This is how a popcorn machine will looke like minature. If i ever open a cafe, i know what kind of things i can use to decorate my cafe.

IE Singapore

visited IE Singapore office in bugis today, pretty nice office with lots of information about opportunities overseas for local companies. i like what IE is doing and how it helps local companies.

i think it would be pretty cool to work in IE.

Wine glass (268/365)

Of course not the real one which cannot be red in the first place but something i would like to have at my place.

I will have a bar at home next time!

Not so ordinary ornament (267/365)

If my love for red is so strong, you will see such ornaments lying around my house everywhere.

Luckily, the person who is going to live with me at my new place in the future cannot toleratre such ornaments that collect  dust and not very useful so i guess i can only look at such things and take picture of them.

But by looking at it closer, you might realise this is actually not any ordinary ornament! It is actually the container where you can put your film after you take your pictures with a film camera! And now, i found a use of this! Who says ornaments have to be useless!

Singapore OK toilets

This picture was taken behind the door of a toilet cubicle. I'm sure you would have come across them in public toilets. think there are different comic strips going around. took this at parkway toilet.

with the singapore OK toilets movement, i think public toilets here are reasonably clean. keep it up!

Toy camera (266/365)

I chanced upon this in a camera shop. You know how common toy cameras are. Before digital camera came up, we have always been using this kind of old bulky camera that uses film. But last time, the cameras are not so pretty. it is just black and bullky. now, cameras are getting more retro like using films but also prettier. And i realised i missed those film camera days where we finish taking 30 plus over pictures then bring it to develop and see the end results of what we took. More element of surprise this way.

AnE

grandma had a fall and had to go to AnE. goodness, the waiting time is really long! definitely more than the estimated 1hr that this sign says! grandma reached there at 5 plus and we only got to leave around 8.30! and the total consultation time including taking of X-ray and CT scan was probably only 30mins? how ironic that the department is called accident and EMERGENCY.

thank God, grandma is fine and the scan results didn't show any serious injuries.

Soy Sauce

took this picture at lunch today and was so amused to see this green sauce bottle! at least helped to meet for my quota for the day :) its been a week being back from my trip but still not used to going back to work. and I feel so drained I rather lunch alone than try to make small talk with my colleagues.

喜 (265/365)

When you see this, you will immediately think about wedding. These big gold word, that means happiness in english, printed with a red background. We will usually see this word stick in the newly wed couple's room, their house or anywhere you want to tell people someone is getting married in that household. This is abit ugly to some who don't like gaudy red and gold. Maybe some will even say it is very 'cheena' but this symbolises alot about the wedding. Blessing the newly wed with happiness.

Goodwood Park's new creation (264/365)

This is the new red orange with banana mooncake. I'm loving Goodwood Park's mooncake. Yummy! =)

They have other nice ones like mango with pomelo. Durian one also.

colourful post-its

do you remember this? I'm sure most people would have used this during school days especially for marking out important pages when studying for exams. even if you do not use it, I'm sure you would have seen it before. this is so nostalgic. I remember i used to buy a new pack at the start of almost all exam periods. not that I used alot of the post-its but I usually can't seem to find it when I need them and so I end up buying a new pack. I probably have alot of other half used packs lying around the house if I were to go digging!

Mindef

I think the Singapore army has quite good direct mail marketing ideas. I remember during my time, they sent this pseudo book with my name as the cover and entitled along the lines of 'story of my life' and it was a blank notebook inside. but at that time I was pretty impressed by their marketing efforts. but too bad they failed to entice me to join. anyway my sister got this mail from the army again. and they gave this little figurine. didn't see the content of the mail though. well, the conclusion is that the army has alot of money!

Big Red Clipper (263/365)

Any idea what is this for?

It took me a while to figure out. This is a clipper for you to put drinks. You can put your drinks in the circle and then clip it onto something, a surface. This is so useful!

I'm loving SQFT. this new kitchenware shop that i chance upon.

optimist vs pessimist

secretly took this picture of someone's bag. and this prompts the 'half empty or half full' question. I think I'm more of a half full person. what about you?

Close shop already (262/365)

When a goldsmith shop closes, they will keep all their gold accessories and leave their display empty like this. Only when they do so, i will notice that it is red in colour!

my souvenir

brought this bottle back from hong kong. not anything special but i so happened to used it at work today. seeing this reminds me of hong kong and that I'm have to wake up to reality. having a serious bout of Monday and post-holiday blues today! :((

And1 (261/365)

If i am a guy, this is the kind of shoes i will buy!

These are basketball shoes. Their kind of shoes are usually quite striking. And1 is all things ball. From basketball shoes, shorts, and shirts to making a statement on the court, And1 is authentic to the game.

So if you are a basketball fanatic, you should know And1.

Red bears (260/365)

I finally found something red that does not appeal to me. Red teddy bears. Somehow, this image is so disturbing. not cute, not pretty, just wrong.

yucks!

hong long international airport

boo :( time flies when you are having fun. i feel like I haven't enjoyed enough! I don't wanna go back to Singapore and most of all, I don't wanna go back to work! :(
hate the feeling of post-holidays blues. I don't wanna board the plane!!

HK MTR

it's very easy to get around in hong kong. the transport system is as convenient as Singapore. for this trip, we mostly travelled by the MTR which is also very similar to that of Singapore. they even have a green line, like our East-West line!

hong kong is definitely a place one can travel to alone! so easy and safe to get around. I wouldnt mind working in hongkong!

Exam papers (259/365)

These used to be illegal. but now, everywhere is selling them. the only difference is that the schools that are being sold are those standard few.

I remember last time when i was studying, these were not that legal yet and there are various kinds of schools' exam paper that were being sold. not only top schools, i have all kind of schools and i had fun doing them. Yes, you read correctly, i had fun doing them. I always like doing assessment books and exam question. Of course, i don't like taking exams but i love starting new assessment books and working on the questions.

haha! i am sure i am not the only one!

one dim sum 一点心

yes this is largely a food trip. for the hunt of all the good popular food in hongkong. but then again, which of my trips ain't about food anyway. haha!

so we tried another Michelin dim sum restaurant located near Prince Edward MTR station. as we were there almost 9, the queue was pretty short and we only had to wait for about half an hour. compared to Tim Ho Wan, one dim sum has more variety. but in times of the taste, I somehow prefer Tim Ho Wan better. this is still good though, at least nicer than the ones I had in Singapore!

the must-eat here is definitely the you tiao wrapped in Chee Cheong fan. i think there's a name for this dish but I don't know what. it's very nice!! another memorable dish for me is the beef rice with egg. I guess also cos I love rice. haha! there's this fried egg sticks which were highly recommended but personally I didn't quite like it. too fried and floury for me. the other dessert that we ordered - steamed cake with water chestnut is highly recommended by me though! I like it! especially the crunchiness from the chestnut.

we ordered so much, we were so stuffed! I don't think I'll eat dim sum for at least the next 2 months!

Kisses for you (258/365)

If someone proposed to me with a room full of such pretty red things, i think i would say yes immediately.

i am not a sweets person, think i have mentioned this many times. but when the packaging is as pretty as this, i really don't mind receiving them as gifts. I used to like eating herseleys, the ones with chocolate in it. i like the crunchy taste. but i think that particular one is out of the market already. no more chocolate crunch inside herselys kisses. =/

Shenzhen

despite all the scary stories we heard, I'm really glad I managed to convince my friends to do a day trip to Shenzhen! it's so convenient to get to Shenzhen from hong kong! and everything is almost at cheaper price.

sadly we went to the wrong side and I didn't buy much as what i had expected. i was quite disappointed after hearing how good the shopping is from my colleagues. but fortunately i managed to discover the food street though alittle late. but at least I got to eat some of my favourite china food like 烧烤肉串 and 刀削面. I even had my favourite 密茶! happiness :)
best of it all, I'm glad we met :)

despite the rowdy people and scary scams around, I guess I'll always have a soft spot for china.

Fiesty Chilli!!! (257/365)

Everywhere i go, i will look for forms of chilli to spice up for my food. It could be in the form of chilli padi, pepper, chili flakes or chilli powder like the ones below. I useed to not dare eat chilli padi, then i realised, once  you remove the seed, it is not as toxic. and the texture of chilli padi when chewing your food is simply addictive.

Tim Ho Wan

omgg this has got to be the best dim sum I've ever eaten! no wonder it's a one Michelin star restaurant! definitely worth the 1.5hours wait!

think they have 2 branches. we went to the Mongkok one. while the other is at causeway bay. their signature dish is the baked pork bun. I'm not a fan of char siew baos. but this is THE BOMB! it's so so so yummy! I had to have a second helping. the other dishes were also very delicious. the usual har gao, siew mai, glutinous rice, lo po gao etc. the prawns were very succulent. you need to order the jelly dessert too! has a unique floral taste.

and you would think with the kind of popularity this stall has, the serve staff will be quite arrogant but to our surprise, their service was really good. the service staff were very friendly and patient. unlike some other local popular eateries where you will get scolded for taking a long time to order.

I love this place and will definitely come back here when I'm in hongkong again. and I'll definitely recommend everyone to come here!

Trying to be a bookworm (256/365)

FREE BOOK!!!!

I was thinking to myself the other day, it's been such a long time since i completed any book. Not even a storybook. So i started my lookout for books to read and when i see this, i shouted in glee (inside of course).

in hongkong!

finally, a break! not one of the places on my current to-go travel list but any getaway is always welcomed and my friends love hongkong so here we are!

after a long and hectic morning, I'm glad we finally touched down in hongkong and I was starving! this was our first meal at a random hong kong stall in Mongkok area. ordered roasted geese noodles and a chocolate drink. the uncle gave me funny look when I ordered the chocolate drink and said it was fattening. okieeee....

anyway here's to more delicious food in the next couple of days!

Peppercorn (255/365)

Although it says pink peppercorn, it is red! it looks red! so this shall be my picture of the day.

i never knew there is such a thing as pink peppercorn. how spicy is it? i am getting more and more interested in spices as i am learning to cook more often. i can spend half an hour at the spice section at cold storage and not get bored! there is so much to learn, so much to smell. Of course i cannot smell it at supermarket. But some wet markets can.

Nescafé Ipoh White Coffee

Nescafé ipoh white coffee has 2 variants! hazelnut and brown sugar. I don't drink coffee but this sounds yummy! especially hazelnut. and the packaging for hazelnut is green! maybe I should go make myself a cup to try!

Happy Birthday my alcoholic friend! (254/365)

This is blood orange with vodka. Chanced upon this shop that sells alcohol in such a way. You can request how much ml you want and what kind of drinks you want. I would love to take a picture of the whole shop but too bad, only this particular one is red in colour.

Vom Fass sells hard liquor, cognac, oils and even vinegar. This place is indeed very interesting and they have different bottles there (of different sizes and shapes) to fill up the drink of your choice. Keep the bottle because when you finished your  drink, you can bring it back to refill. Save the environment.

Gmarket

ok, I'm a slowpoke but I recently made a new discovery of the awesomeness of gmarket! this iPhone wire is my first gmarket buy along with screen protectors and a earphone.

within that one night i made another 2 purchases, a Laneige sleep pack at almost half of retail price! I'm in love with gmarket!! but need to refrain myself from going often because it's not only wasting money but time consuming too!

Happy birthday cousin! (253/365)

Cupcakes are the in thing now right? I couldn't find the famous 12 cupcakes and so i resort to the cupcakes with love. imitation i think. they taste normal. not as heavenly as 12 cupcakes were in my memory.

Today is not the actual day of my cousin's bday but we celebrated today. bought 4 cupcakes for her as a gift.

keep quiet

you will see interesting things in child care centres and kindergartens. this was taken at my church's Sunday school. it's part of 3 steps finger signs to ask the kids to keep quiet. the fun ways teachers have to come up with to discipline kids.

My first G-shock (252/365)

This is my first ever g-shock! i have 2 baby-g when i was younger but i never thought i will go back to the 'g' days. but here i am, getting my first g-shoock! i realised my usual metal watch is suitable for work and maybe functions but if i wanna go holiday, i wun wear that or if i go gym, i cannot wear that as well. so i opt for a rubber strap kind of watch so g shock it is. baby g is so out for me. i really prefer big faced watches.

mahjong

it's been awhile since I last played mahjong! still remember those days when i first learned to play mahjong, I was so hooked onto it. finding friends to play overnight with.

but because mahjong needs 4 players, I always have trouble finding the 4th player! sometimes we get so desperate we make do with 3 players though it isnt fun. feel like playing a round of mahjong now. =p

Emergency only (251/365)

You see this in building all the time. But you won't really take note of it unless nevessary. But because i am always on a lookout for red objects, i see it very often. This is for emergency whereby you press and the glass will break easily for you to access to the switch/button or whatever that is behind. Of course, Singapore government would not let anyone play with such a thing. There is a fine if you use this for no emergency purpose.

Nature Valley

this is my favourite cereal bar brand! I tried to give other brands a chance but somehow I still come back to this brand. sadly it's not very cheap and I usually wait for promotion at departmental stores expo sales.

I like most of the flavours from this brand and I usually have a hard time deciding which to buy. but I think one of my top favourite is this honey and oats. just so yummy! :) I can eat this everyday!

Who doesn't like a sale? (250/365)

Sales is everywhere! I thought GSS just ended? This must be post-GSS. Seriously, think i've mentioned this before but Singapore comes up with all sorts of reason to have a sale. Just look at expo, every other weekend is a sale. Robinsons sales, Metro sales, somethings, sports apparel sales. You name it, you have it.
