An empty plate (127/365)

Sometimes when we are at a restaurant, after the waiter or waitress took our orders, they lay these empty plates and also cutlery on our table. And then this is where my story starts, i will have this insatiable urge to wanna fill up the plate and eat off it! and if my food is taking a very long time to come, this feeling just gets worse and worse. it's like if the plates are not there in front of me, i will not be so hungry, but cos they are in front of me, staring back at me, and it being so empty, it makes me v v hungry to look at them.

haha.. silly i know.

Packing

my room is constantly in a mess. so from time to time, i'll do some spring cleaning. over the week, i packed my wardrobe again, mainly because my clothes seem to be going missing. i've been looking for this home shorts for awhile but after searching high and low, it wasn't anywhere in my cupboard. finally got it back from my friend! so yay! adding the green shorts back to my wardrobe :)

CMPB @ Dempsey

call me mountain tortoise, but this is only my 2nd time at Dempsey! can you believe it?!

so we had dinner and drinks at CMPB tonight. i've been having major truffle fries craving the entire week! so i ordered the steak sandwich with truffle fries as my main course. Gosh, my ciabatta sandwich with medium rare steak was HUGE! and for a big eater like me, says alot about the portion if i couldnt finish the bread! the truffle fries was alright. satisfied my craving but it wasn't fantastic. one of my friends ordered the cod and chips which is basically just the normal fish & chips that we concluded that fish & co serves better; while another friend ordered the rosti with cheese sausage. the chicken cheese sausage was not bad.

happy hours is till 9pm daily. and there's live band performance every monday and tuesday from 8pm; friday and saturday from 10pm. i like the band playing yesterday! the voice of the female singer was clean and cool. i like! another unique thing about this place is that they serve complimentary soup every night around 11 plus, 12. it was chicken soup tonight and i thought it was good!

overall, the place is rather pricey though. on top of our main courses, we had a happy hour drink each and we later ordered a bottle of wine. the total bill for 3 of us amounted to $222. the ambience was good but i think the food could be improved. will probably head back next time for drinks, the music and the free soup! but will skip the dinner. :)

Sports bra (126/365)

Days when I was in IJ, an all girls' school,sports bra is a fashion statement. our school shirt is white with blue pinafore. so whatever bright colours sports bra you wera inside can be clearly seen from behing because of the white translucent shirt. and thus, it became a fashion statement.

 whatever bright colour you name it, you have it. i remember when i was still in my lower secondary, i spotted all kinds of colours. yellow, red, blue, pink, purple etc. somehow when i was in upper secondary, the school then came out with a new rule to say sports bra can only be blue or black. haha! of course people still broke those rules. and it was seen to be cool if you have a bright coloured sports bra underneath your white shirt that can be seen.

those were the day. haha

parents-free weekend

the parents are away, the car's come out to play! woohoo! so my parents are out of town for the weekend and I have the car all to myself! realised how convenient it is to be able to drive around! though it can get stressful at times. especially just now when I was making my way to church along paya lebar road.

the car rocks when I don't have any mishaps to add on to my driving misadventures! so pray for me this weekend as I go behind the wheel.

Festive Hotel @ Resort World Sentosa (125/365)

The girls and I checked into festive hotel at rws for our first ever hen's party. one of our girlfriend is getting married this may and we organised a hen's party for her.

naturally, when 6 girls come together, clad in pjs, huddling around each other, we had lots of fun. whether we managed to organise what a real hen's party should be like, we enjoyed ourselves tremendously. we had fun, laughter, some tears and even some vomit from a really drunk girl (not the bride).

even if we can't get together for a holiday, we should do staycation every now and then. fun!

Loyalty programs

as mentioned in earlier posts before, I love a good deal. and of course, i do have alot of loyalty cards. Watson is one of them! I used to love shopping at Watson but these days I seldom buy from there because there are cheaper personal care stores like beauty spring. swanston etc that sells lower than average retail price.

nonetheless, I still love loyalty cards and collecting points! =p

Picky eater (124/365)

Each time I eat noodles or rice that has all the garnishing on top of it, I will pick it out dutifully. I don't don't like to eat those garnishing but it has become a habit to pick them out each time I eat food garnished with them.

I was at my company's d and d event. The food was served at a super super slow rate. I don't blame them. They have to be in line with the whole night's programme but it was so slow that we literally digested the food before the next dish is served.

Social graces

When dining out, do you clear your own plates and utensils after finishing? Especially at fast food joints. 

I think in Singapore, we are still far lacking behind that of Japan and Taiwan in terms of social culture. Despite being a first-world country, I think our social behaviour still has alot to improve on. I'm very impressed by how the Japs are so environmentally conscious that it's in their habit to separate their rubbish into recyclables and non-recyclables. 

lets all try to be better and more socially responsible citizens!

Pardon me for using macs as another red picture of the day but I am having a huge craving for macs spicy nuggets. I really want to buy a box of 20 pieces and gorge myself. But it is fattening and not exactly cheap.

I shall slowly stare at this picture and wait for the weekends to come.

Happy Labour Day!

despite having to drag myself out of bed like a normal work day, I had a really good break today! one can never go wrong with a cold glass of beer on a hot afternoon!

after having 2 rounds of meals for lunch, my friend who was planning to go back to office decided to skip work and chill the afternoon at TGIF in katong with me! yay to afternoon beer!

The King Louis Grill and Bar @ Vivocity (122/365)

i chance upon this when i was at vivocity. it was quite a good way to advertise. cos it caught my attention. then again, it could be cos it is red in colour. but it seemed like a not too bad place. too bad i needed to rush home for dinner. i might go back vivo to check this restaurant out.

I have craving for GOOD grilled meat or seafood!!! and a big mug of beer! yums!

 

Hairband (121/365)

There was a period of time when I fell in love with hairband. And I started expanding my collection impulsively. Like for christmas, I requested hairbands for gift exchange. Ad whenever I walk past accessory shop, I will look for one.

Like any wave, it comes and it goes. And I started thinking these hairbands take up too much of my space on the table. I had to find a place for all of them. They are kinda fixed shape. I can't bend them and make them smaller so as to keep them. Tsk

I finally found another use for them. Use them when I am doing facial cos my fringe gets in the way. Haha!

say cheese!

With the iphone and many photo apps, photo taking has become so easy and convenient. gone are the days of film cameras where we can only view the pictures after we have sent the film to develop. Now, we can see the photos instantly and if its not nice enough, delete and take again! despite the days of film cameras being long gone, polaroid cameras have become the in-thing these days.

Polaroid taking is fun! and you get to have a physical photo for keepsake. however, a disadvantage is that you can only have one of it. so if the polaroid has many people in it, only one lucky person can get to keep it. but of course, you can take a couple of pictures. well, at least that one polaroid you have is one of a kind!

there are so many choices for polaroid films. there's the plain ones, the colourful ones or those with cartoon characters like hello kitty and winnie the pooh. i would love to buy a cartoon character one! =p but these films dont come cheap mans!!

maybe i'll just stick to my iphone apps.. hmmm.

Avocado juice

who can resist a glass of creamy avocado juice?? I love it! esp when it's served with either chocolate or gula melaka sauce! but sadly it's one of the more expensive fruit juice so I can't drink it that often!

actually I like anything that has avocado! I love eating dragon roll from sushi teh and I also always order the salmon avocado roll at other sushi restaurants. my mum's friend used to make avocado salad in which I can use it as a spread for my bread! super yummy!

avocados may be one of the more fattening fruits but they have their health benefits too. avocados are rich in antioxidants and good for protection against breast cancer and preventing stroke. so eat your avocado today!

Keyholder (120/365)

My 7 years old keyholder. It was a gift from someone 7 years ago. it was a first gift from that person. i remember treasuring it since then and then after a while, it became a habit. it was originally red with a female toilet sign on it. i have a mechanical pencil from the same person for 7 years as well. i don't know why i never changed it. i just never did.

this is similar to alot of things we hold.the first time we have something, we will treasure it because we love it so much. after a long while, it became a habit. we are comfortable looking at the thing, we are used to having it in our life. but that doesn't mean we won't fall in love with the next thing we see. there are pretty objects around all the time. we like some, we get tired of some.

i hope i don't cling on to past gifts and people because of habit.

Panadol (119/365)

I don't like to take panadol. I find that it only takes away the pain or discomfort temporarily but does not solve the root.

But ever since the start of this year, I am stocking up all kinds of panadol in my fridge. Extra relief like this, flu, flu extra and also the regular panadol. I find that I fall sick very easily since the start of this year and I need panadol to relieve my pain instantly so that I got strength for the next day. I think this is not a very healthy thing to do because I am just accumulating the root of my body weakness.

But ya, now I have alot of panadol in my fridge

Green Cleopatra

saw this cute M&M choc at a DFS shop and I had to take it for my green pic of the day!

I like M&Ms because they are so colourful! feels happy eating them. also they have many kind of accessories. I remember having a big M&M rolling machine when I was younger. it works like a bingo machine where a choc will roll out every time u turn the roller.

there are many different types of M&Ms choc. which type do u like? I like the almond and the crunchy biscuit one!

swimsuit

saw a random sign from frolick the yoghurt stall. quite funny I think.

I like quirky signs.
also reminds me I have to keep up with my exercise regime and go swimming!

Dentist with a cross (118/365)

Came across this dental place today call hosanna dental. It is nice to see Christians opening shops or doing business and not forgetting to credit or recognise God in their life. Or dedicate their business to Christ.

I know there is a thai shop in raffles place that sells just 2 or 3 items. tom yum soup and green curry. And they have bible verses sticking on the wall and they play Christian songs all day long. I like to dine there alone when i just need to get away from the hustle and bustle of life.
